“Why Isn’t This Working?!” Fixing Common HighLevel Setup Mistakes

Let me paint you a picture:

You’re in the middle of setting up your agency inside HighLevel.

The funnel’s live, Stripe’s connected, your VA has access.

Then suddenly,boom 💥 something breaks.

Your checkout fails. Or your VA deletes something. Or you’re stuck hunting for your agency ID like it’s buried treasure.

Look, I’ve been in those trenches, and I can tell you, this is the stuff that separates the pros from the frustrated.

I’m walking through some of the most common “wait, how do I fix this?” moments in HighLevel, and more importantly, how to avoid them like a pro.

Stripe: How to Ditch the Payment Options You Don’t Want

Ever seen random options like Afterpay or Klarna show up in your Stripe checkout and thought,  “Uhhh, I didn’t ask for that…”?

Yeah. You’re not alone.

Here’s what to do if you want to disable payment methods that Stripe’s mysteriously added:

🧼 Clean-Up Options:

  • Check Stripe Dashboard → Settings → Payment Methods
  • Turn off what you don’t want
  • Still stuck? 👉 Reach out to Stripe support directly

Key Idea: Just because Stripe can accept every payment method doesn’t mean you should.

Finding Your Agency ID for API Integrations

Trying to hook up some integrations and suddenly you hit that wall:

“Enter your Agency ID.” What ID? Where do I find it?

If you’re digging through the platform like a squirrel looking for a nut, here’s how to find it fast:

🧠 Smart Shortcut:

  1. Open HighLevel in your browser
  2. Right-click → Inspect (yes, go full nerd mode)
  3. Head to Network tab
  4. Look for calls that mention your agency → The ID is usually in the payload

Key Idea: Your Agency ID is hidden under the hood—but easy to grab if you know where to look.

Don’t Give Admin Access to Everyone (Seriously)

I get it, sometimes you’re moving fast.

You’ve got a freelancer helping with funnels, or a virtual assistant uploading contacts.

And you think: “Meh, I’ll just give them admin access and fix it later.”

🚨 Bad idea.

Giving full admin access to contractors, VAs, or short-term hires opens the door to:

  • 🔐 Security risks
  • 🗑 Accidental deletion of stuff you really needed
  • 😬 Clients seeing things they shouldn’t

If you need outside help, use trusted white-label providers or create custom roles with limited permissions.

Key Idea: Only give full admin access to people you’d trust with your Netflix password, your dog, and your car keys.

Bonus Tip: Don’t Wait for Something to Break

The best time to fix your HighLevel setup is before something crashes.

  • Test your payment flow
  • Audit who has access to what
  • Double-check your DNS records
  • Pretend you’re a brand-new client and go through the whole onboarding process

Because when you’re scaling your agency, trust is everything.

And trust is built on systems that actually work.
