Quick start
- Sign up for a new account on the Mailgun website.
- Check your email inbox immediately.
- Verify your email address. Do not skip this step or your entire setup will stall.
Follow the detailed steps below to complete the setup.
You just built out an incredible email nurture sequence for a brand new client. The copy is absolutely perfect. The workflow triggers are flawless. You hit publish, tell the client their campaign is live, and wait for the replies to roll in.
Then the client calls you the next morning. Not a single prospect received an email. You log into HighLevel and realize nothing actually sent.
The system is completely jammed because your email domain was never properly authenticated. The client is frustrated, your launch is ruined, and you look like a total amateur.
Email delivery is the absolute backbone of your agency. You cannot afford to skip the technical setup and just hope for the best.
Integrating Mailgun into HighLevel gives you the ultimate sending engine to ensure your emails actually hit the inbox every single time. Let us lock down your infrastructure the right way.
Part 1: Create Your Mailgun Account
Ready to streamline this? Here is exactly how to do it in 60 seconds:
- Sign up for a new account on the Mailgun website.
- Check your email inbox immediately.
- Verify your email address. Do not skip this step or your entire setup will stall.
Part 2: Add Your Sending Domain
Now you need to tell Mailgun where your emails are coming from.
- Inside Mailgun, click on Sending in the menu.
- Click Add New Domain.
- Decide if you are using a main domain or a subdomain. If you are adding the main domain, ensure it is not already used with Google Workspace or any other business email provider.
- Set up a subdomain if your main domain is already handling regular business emails. You can use something like mg.companyname.com or replies.companyname.com to keep things perfectly separated.
- Choose the US region for your setup. Do not select EU.
- Click Add domain.
Part 3: Find Your DNS Provider
You need to add some records to your domain provider, but you might not know where that domain is hosted. Let us find it fast.
- Go to mxtoolbox.com.
- Enter the domain you are trying to set up. Only type the domain name itself. Do not add http:// in front of it.
- Run the lookup. The results will show your DNS hosting provider.
- Check the bottom note on the results page. It will say “reported by” and list a provider like WordPress. Now you know exactly where to log in.
Part 4: Add Your DNS Records
This is the final technical hurdle. Do not guess on these values. Match them perfectly.
- Log in to your DNS hosting provider.
- Locate your DNS records management area.
- Add the five specific DNS records provided by Mailgun.
- Click Create new record to add your CNAME record.
- Select CNAME from the Type dropdown.
- Paste mailgun.org into the Data field.
- Enter your Host name carefully. If your subdomain is mg.companyname.com, your host name is email.mg. If your subdomain is replies.companyname.com, the host name is email.replies. If you are using a main domain, the host name is simply email.
Stop letting technical setup errors ruin your massive client campaigns and start building a rock-solid sending foundation today.
