A hot, highly-qualified lead lands on your client’s website at 2:00 AM. They fill out a contact form asking for a quote. They are ready to buy right now. But your agency is asleep. Your client is asleep. The lead sits there in a digital waiting room.
By the time your sales rep wakes up, grabs their coffee, and manually texts the lead at 9:00 AM, the momentum is completely dead. The prospect already Googled a competitor, got an instant reply from their bot, and booked a call. You just lost a massive high-ticket deal simply because your follow-up was tied to human waking hours.
You cannot scale an agency if your response time relies on manual effort or clunky polling scripts. HighLevel fixes this effortlessly with Flow Agent Triggers inside Agent Studio. You can now wire your existing AI agents to wake up and engage the exact second a contact submits a form, sends a chat message, or gets tagged. Let us put your lead response on absolute autopilot.
Part 1: Access Your Existing Flow Agent
Ready to streamline this? Here is exactly how to do it in 60 seconds:
(Note: While new agents should be built using Super Agents, this guide is for adding triggers to your existing Flow Agents).
- From the left sidebar of your HighLevel dashboard, click on AI Agents.
- Select the Agent Studio tab at the top of the screen.
- Click the Flow Agents button to view your legacy bots.
- Click on your existing agent’s name to open the visual builder canvas.
Part 2: Place the Start Trigger
Let us give your agent a clear starting line.
- Locate the starting area of your existing flow on the visual canvas.
- Click Add New Node.
- From the node picker, look under Flow Control and select Start trigger. This drops a trigger tile onto the canvas that actively listens for real-time events.
Part 3: Define Your Trigger Event
Tell the system exactly what action should wake your agent up.
- In the Select trigger panel, choose your entry event: Form submitted, Lead tag, Chat message, or Workflows.
- If you choose Form submitted, use the dropdown to select specific forms. The agent will fire the second a lead hits submit and instantly expose the form fields as variables for your flow.
- If you choose Lead tag, select whether the action is Tag added or Tag removed, then pick the specific tag from your list.
- If you choose Chat message, no extra configuration is needed! The agent will start automatically the instant a new inbound message arrives through any connected chat widget.
Part 4: Validate and Deploy
Stop guessing if your automation works. Let us test it safely.
- Click Test to run a safe simulation of the trigger. This validates the payload without affecting any live contacts.
- Click Save to store your current setup as a Staging version so you do not lose your work.
- Once you verify the flow is perfect, click Publish. This pushes the Start trigger into Production, meaning real events will immediately start waking up your agent.
Automating your AI triggers guarantees every lead gets an instant, intelligent response, buying your team time to jump in and close the deal.
