Picture this: You just sent an incredible newsletter for your client’s massive product launch. It had three different offers, multiple buttons, and beautifully designed image links. A few days go by, and the open rate looks amazing! But… nobody is buying.
Your client calls you up and asks, “Which offer did they like best? Should we run more of Offer A or Offer B?” And you freeze. Because you didn’t track the links. You have no idea if people clicked the big red button, the text links, or if they just opened the email and immediately swiped away. You are flying completely blind, guessing at what works, and it makes your agency look like an amateur operation.
What if you knew exactly where your leads were clicking? HighLevel’s Click Performance in Email Statistics tracks every single link interaction inside your sent campaigns. It is the ultimate fix to stop guessing, refine your calls-to-action (CTAs), and see exactly what content actually prints money.
Ready to streamline this? Here is exactly how to do it in 60 seconds:
Part 1: Enable Click Tracking Before You Send
Click data is only collected if you tell the system to track it. If you forget to turn this on before sending, the data is gone forever!
- Go to Marketing → Emails → Campaigns.
- Choose your existing draft or create a new campaign.
- In the Send and Schedule page, scroll down to the Additional Settings section.
- Turn ON the toggle labeled Track Clicks.
- (Optional but highly recommended) Enable UTM Tracking to automatically tag all your links with campaign data.
- Complete your setup and hit send!
Part 2: Access Your Click Performance Data
Once the email is delivered and your audience starts engaging, it is time to check the scoreboard.
- Navigate to Marketing → Emails from your dashboard.
- Go to the Campaigns tab and locate your sent email.
- Click on the three-dot menu (⋮) beside the campaign name.
- Select Statistics.
- In the stats side panel that opens, click Load More Statistics.
- On the expanded page, select the Click Performance tab at the top.
Part 3: Decode Your Click Metrics
Don’t just stare at the numbers, understand what they mean so you can optimize your next send.
- Total Clicks: The absolute total number of times all links were clicked (this includes that one prospect who clicked the same button five times).
- Total Unique Clicks: The exact number of individual, unique people who clicked at least one link.
- Unique Engagements: The total number of recipients who actually interacted with your links.
- Clicks per Unique Open: This percentage shows how many unique opens resulted in a click. It is the ultimate test of how engaging your email copy actually is!
- Links in This Email: This is the holy grail. It displays a table showing the URL, the Source (like whether it was a text link, button, or image), and the exact click counts. Use this to find your winning CTAs!
